A life against the wind
Dominique Vallée is a high-level international athlete and member of the Canadian sailing team. She has been windsurfing since the age of six. She holds one of the few black sailing and level III coaching diplomas, a distinction that gives her a reputation in the sailing world. She is the director and chief instructor of the Club Multivoile 4 saisons sailing school in Trois-Rivières. She is also the owner of DO SPORT, a company that specializes in courses and the manufacturing of stand up paddle boards.
In this book, Une vie à contre vent, Dominique Vallée shares with us her travels, encounters, battles, but above all her desire to live in complete freedom. At the age of 16, her choice of studies forced her to leave the family cocoon and she slowly realized that the future she was destined for might not be the one that suited her. Gradually, she embarked on an intense sporting and personal adventure far from the traditional lifestyle. The author, who is studying kinesiology at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, tells us, from her childhood to today, about the unusual life path of an international windsurfing career with its fantastic moments and its sometimes painful lows.
