Why do we design but not manufacture inflatable boards in Canada?

Do Sport has been designing and manufacturing (Asia) inflatable boards since 2012. In 2015, we repatriated the manufacturing of composite boards from Asia to Canada with the initial idea of repatriating the manufacturing of the two types of boards we produce (inflatable and rigid). 

After months of researching the repatriation of the inflatable boards, here are the obstacles we faced to complete this project:

1) 100% of the raw material comes from Asia

2) The glue used in Asia to assemble the boards is not a product available in Canada and does not meet Canadian environmental standards.

If we had access to glue and imported the raw materials, this would have many disadvantages:

• There is no added value for our environmental impact. (transport, use of products...)

• The cost of the final product would be higher for a similar product
  

• The product would be described as assembled in Canada and not manufactured in
  Canada

Therefore we have strengthened our ties invested with our local partner with whom we have been doing business since our beginnings in order to set up a quality control system and to distinguish ourselves on the market.

Finally, we have fully dedicated ourselves to the repatriation of rigid boards to develop new quality products. Although the challenge remains enormous, there are many benefits for both us and the customer:

• a decrease in our environmental impact 

• an absolute control of the quality of the production in the workshop and on the production deadlines

• an immediate proximity to our customers to respond to personalized needs 

• an after-sales service done directly by the production team 

• the possibility for the client to support a company that contributes to the development of the local economy.
